destined to drift

1.
so this is just one of those riffs that every now and again is destined to drift but in a couple of years when i am down and out I'll search for this gear in the heart of the matter, what matters today in the crux of the latter i can not abstain from this beating that's driving that's pumping my veins and you know it'll never be the same, the same way so this is just one of those riffs that every now an again reminds me of the tragically hip ain't nothing every felt so right, so right than staying up all night and tripping with eric
2.
put two words together pick three words, make 'em something really good put four words together pick five words and make 'em something intelligent put six words together pick seven words and make 'em something I won't forget pick one word tell it to me when there's no chance of me hearing you whisper it into my ear while i'm asleep when you're running a bath, when you're brushing your teeth while you're waving good bye and i'm across the street pick one word
3.
in time we tap our toes we smile and no body knows our song is not yet born it's a two step, two step towards the keys, the drums our hearts beat as one play it again pretty please this love is all we need while they were watching, they were watching the price of gold we were making, we were making rock n roll they can show us their new house and all the nice things they bought but to tell you the truth oh baby you know, you know i don't really care
4.
I love these three chords they're simple and pure they can't bring me down they will not obscure all that is real and all that is good they bring me joy like nothing could they've been going out of their way to be in the yesterday bringing down novel sound from all around the place they bring me time they bring me space
5.
our favourite song doesn't have, have a chorus and that's alright just as long as we still know it and in the end it'll drift, drift between us and that's alright just as long as we still feel it every time i think what i wanna think i'm not sure that i really thunk it it's not like, it's just kinda like i know you thought it before it's not like i've been through any souls but my own

i picked petals in your name one by one they drifted away into the sun light of yesterday i picked petals in your name and i put pebbles around the flame one by one they melted away into dust and washed away by rain i put pebbles around the flame did you love me, did you not looks like these petals are all that we got did you love me, did you not one day these pebbles will roll in to rocks they will fight your flame, they will fight your flame are you the flower or the vase are you a thorn behind that pretty face one on one we're still the same and you know i haven't changed so i pick flowers in your name one by one they'll take your breathe away i don't pick petals, i make bouquets i pick flowers in your name did you love me, did you not looks like these petals are all that we got did you love me, did you not one day these pebbles will roll in to rocks they will write your name, they will write your name

there is a silent stranger deep inside my head he'll play these four chords till the day after my death then we'll be partners in the afterlife we'll sing in harmony till we are both alive and so you turn to music once again you try to change your tune but i know you pretend to be the silent stranger that is deep inside my head you'll play these four chords till my finger nails turn red but you'd be nothing without a voice what are your four chords without a little noise and so you turn to music once again you try to change your tune but i love you to the very end and so you turn to music once again

when i'm all alone i whistle out this number then i start to feel real good everything around me starts to turn to music then my whole body moves everything around me, start to feel, whole body take this little ear worm and put it in your pocket save it for a rainy day like aretha franklin, you gonna sock it come on let that music play everything around me, start to feel, whole body just a little bit, just a little bit, just a little bit, give it to me one time just a little bit, just a little bit, just a little bit, give it to me two time when i'm all alone i whistle out this number then i start to feel real good everything around me starts to turn to music then my whole body moves everything around me, start to feel, whole body i don't want to give you everything i worked for i don't want to lose control i don't want to do this only for the money i just want to rock n roll, i want the world to know everything around me, start to feel, whole body everything around me, start to feel, whole body just a little bit, just a little bit, just a little bit, give it to me one time just a little bit, just a little bit, just a little bit, give it to me two time

this sounds like a song that was written by a younger band who tried to bring back a sound that fashion seemed to forget about they don't give a shit they just wanna party they don't give a shit they just wanna party they're one of ten and they know how to rock it out they all look good except for the drummer they're all in their roaring twenties they're all in their roaring twenties so i went to the show and the mosh pit was epic i didn't even know the songs they were playing never mind they sound like the pixies never mind they sound like the pixies one last time before my music dies
